Excess Weight and Gallbladder Problems

Being overweight increases your chances of having problems with your gallbladder. Losing weight, or dieting, can also increase your chances of having gall bladder problems. What?? Yes, but the real danger is in the rapid weight loss approach. The best way to lose weight, from many perspectives, is to do so slowly. In addition, including fiber, calcium and exercise in your weight loss program helps minimize any risk. It sounds like our natural weight loss healthy diet program, doesn't it?

One of the most common, and profitable, treatments for gallbladder problems is its removal. Some years ago, I underwent this surgery, which is called cholecystectomy. Fortunately, my surgeon did the operation laparoscopically, which is less invasive than the old way, in which they used to make a large incision. In the laparoscopic method, in which they use several small holes, the healing is much more rapid, I am told.

The bad news was that I needed surgery. The good news is that I only had one gall bladder to give, so I'll never have to go through that again.

Right now, you may not think you'll ever have gallbladder problems, and I hope you're right. But if you can reduce your risk, and improve your overall health and appearance in the process, isn't losing some excess weight worth considering?
