If the meal you are about to enter has not already been selected (small triangle), select it now by clicking on the meal of choice.
Select the foods you are consuming at this meal, either from the General Database or from your list of Favorite Foods.
From the General Database (on the left), click the colored tab along the top to reach the category of food under consideration, e.g. Fruits, Dairy Products, Meats, etc. Then click on the food (on the text, not just the line!) you want. It will automatically appear under the meal you have chosen on the right. Continue until you have completed your list for that meal.
Please note that you are not restricted to accepting the amounts listed in the database. If you simply highlight and change the amount in the meal section, and replace it with your actual amount, and then press Save, the appropriate amount, as well as the correct number of calories and grams of fat, will appear. You must click Save after each incident where you change the amount.
You will notice that under the meals, the program automatically keeps track of, and presents to you, the running number of calories and % fat calories for the day. If the % fat calories is below 25%, the result is presented in black. If it is above 25%, it is presented in red. This is to help you keep at or below the 25% fat calories.
Everything you enter can be changed or deleted, if you choose to do so. Hence, you don’t have to worry about making any mistakes.
One may wish to review their journal for the current month, or for all the months that they have been on the program. This is easily achieved by going to the Main Menu page, and clicking on the appropriate link under Diary. Once you are on the View current month diary page, you can access any particular day by clicking on the date. This will bring up the complete food diary for that day. This is a toggle link, so when you want to close it, simply click it again.
Similarly, for months other than the current month, simply go to the month of interest by clicking on the little calendar, and then click on day of the month of interest. You will then be presented with a list of all the food diaries from the selected date onward.
For those who would like a summary of all their statistics, either for the current month or previous months, these are readily available under Tracking your statistics. Here are presented summaries of the daily totals, cumulative totals, and running averages for the month in question.
Seeing a graphical presentation of your results is a very powerful motivator and reward grantor. Under View graphs, you will be able to see your progress in weight loss (to the nearest pound), watch your daily total calorie, as well as fat calorie, consumption. You can also watch the daily % fat calorie consumption. All are calculated automatically. All you need to do is to click on the appropriate link.
Under Main Settings, you have the opportunity to change your personal information, make up your personal list of Favorite Foods, or to add a completely new food to the database.
To make your own personal list of Favorite Foods, simply click on that link. You will be taken to a page containing the General Database. Simply select the category, then the food and click on its name. This will then place that food, under the correct category, with all its nutritional information, into your list of Favorite Foods. You will notice that your Favorite Foods list contains an added feature of Show info/Hide info, so that although your personal list is very compact, all the nutritional info is immediately accessible when desired.
N. B. This Show info / Hide info feature is optimized for the Internet Explorer browser.To add a new food to the database, simply click on the Your
own foods link. On the page that appears, click on the Add
new food link, fill in the fields, and then click Save.
