A natural weight loss healthy diet program

Requirements and Recommendations

Requirements

There are really only two requirements:

1. Access to a computer with an Internet connection

Since this is an online program, you need to have access to a computer with an Internet capability.

2. Access to a good scale

We strongly recommend that you have a good scale. I personally use a scale of European design. The things I like about it are the fact that it reads to 0.1 lb, and it does so with great precision.

For those of you that have forgotten the distinction between precision and accuracy, I'll remind you now. When you can get on the scale three time in a row, and it reads exactly the same each time, that is precision. If that reading happens to agree exactly with a scale known to be correct, then this scale is also accurate. In other words, precision is reflected in reproducibility. Accuracy means correctness. A scale that is not precise cannot really be called accurate, even though it may occasionally be correct.

Hence, the first requirement is precision. Even if a scale is off by a pound or two, if it is precise, we can see our weight loss, and count on it. If it's not precise, we can't really count on the differences we see from weighing to weighing as reflecting a real weight change.

You should weigh yourself every day, and it should be at about the same time, with the same state of dress or undress. This weight must be recorded in the program's daily journal. Yes, I know that some people recommend that you weigh yourself only once a week. I don't agree with that point of view. Daily weighings allow you to stay on top of your progress. Coupled with the analysis of your intake provided by the program, you can immediately see the correlation between your eating behavior and the weight results you obtain.

Recommendations

A small food scale, while not necessary, would be a good idea. It will teach you what an ounce of your favorite cheese looks like, for example. Likewise, a set of measuring cups can quickly disabuse you of any notion that you instinctively know just how much that juice glass holds. Both the food scale and measuring cups are teaching aids, and will become less needed as you learn to estimate weights and volumes more accurately with time.

In my opinion, you should always take daily vitamin and mineral supplements. This is even more important during a period when one is in the process of losing weight. You really shouldn't have to concern yourself about meeting all the daily RDAs for all the various nutrients while engaging in a weight loss program. Which brand you take is up to you. It is less important just which brand you take than the fact that you make sure to take some.
